ABOUT WATERFRONT GALLERY
Situated next to the Missouri River in Pierre, South Dakota, Waterfront Gallery for the Arts opened it's doors in April of 2022. As Pierre's only art gallery, it has been a wonderful addition to the community, hosting dozens of arts related events including artist receptions, student art shows, concerts, art classes, poetry readings, theater previews, discussion forums, and a multitude of other activites. It is the perfect setting for artists of all disciplines to exhibit their work.
Gallery owner Jennifer Kanz manages all aspects of the gallery - scheduling, operations, setting up displays and advertising. The Gallery often works together with Short Grass Arts Council, a local non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness for the arts in the community, by co-hosting activities and providing the venue for their events.
OUR MISSION
Our main focus is promoting the arts in Central South Dakota. Plain and Simple.
We do this by providing free venue space for local artists and arts organizations in all artistic disciplines to exhibit or perform their original works. We are also provide meeting space for local organizations and art classes. Waterfront Gallery is privately funded by Spectrum Therapeutic Massage along with donations and contributions from individuals and other arts organizations in the Central South Dakota area. In addition, Waterfront Gallery works closely with the Short Grass Arts Council and the Canvasback Art Club, local non-profit organizations supporting the arts in our community. It is our belief that by working together with individual artists, arts organizations, clubs, schools and businesses, the arts can be a strong support for the well-being of our community.
